“Bloody Stream” by Coda [ENG]

After a while, I stopped being surprised by the new Shut Up and JoJo remixes. Ok, maybe the one with “Roundabout” still caught me off guard, but still, it wasn’t that weird anymore. This, on the other hand, I would have never seen coming.

Yep, that’s an English version of the TV cut of “Bloody Stream.” It was done by this guy Y. Chang who apparently does this for anime songs. The English lyrics and vocals are by him, though the mixing was by the friend he did this on the behalf of. He’s got a few other ones under his belt on his YouTube channel. Also, you can also check out “Bloody Stream laid over the original opening sequence here at his Tumblr.

“Did You Order Some Obari?” YouTube Video Roundup

$

0

If you’ve been an anime fan for long enough, you’ve probably heard the name Masami Obari. He’s what I’d call a polarizing individual. On one hand, super robots. He handled the design for super robots such as Dancouga, Fighbird, and the G Compatible Kaiser from SRW OG. On the other hand, boobs. Obari shows tend to go the extra mile in uncomfortable, weirdly proportioned, jiggly jello tits fanservice. It even leaks into his robot shows like Gravion and Dangaizer 3, a show I maintain is a not a robot show but a porn where the actual sex scenes have been replaced with a magic robot. He tends to do better in the mecha designer and animator chairs than the director chair.

For instance, Dangaioh. You may remember Dangaioh as a feature in Super Robot Awesome when we still did that. Part of the old, rare Manga UK dub was uploaded to YouTube by OldAnimeDubs. It’s worth checking out if you’d like some robots straddling the line between serious 80s future drama and super 70s punch bad guys in the face.

But you may also remember that there was a tweet by Obari that he’d like to direct a JoJo’s episode that would have some absurdly high number of animation frames. It never came to fruition because it would cost way too much money, but if you were curious about how Obari would handle directing a modern show, he’s also started directing this robot show Ziguruhazeru for Aniplex. It’s a toy driven show for these robots based on Journey to the West characters, but robot shows have almost always been at least somewhat merchandise driven. It premiered on Aniplex back on the 6th, though I can’t find an episode currently and it was weirdly not mentioned with other spring anime. If you happen to find a recording of the show and like the action you see, let out a small wish that maybe we can see that kind of spirit put into Stardust Crusaders when it happens.

Until then, you can stare infinitely into the one uncovered eye of imprisoned Jotaro Kujo. Someone clipped off and uploaded the brief Part 3 teaser from the end of Episode 26, so if you’d like to watch it in an infinite loop, I understand.

“Those throat drops saved me during recordings.” Parting Words from the Battle Tendency Cast

So I was digging around in old tweets from the JoJo’s Twitter. The one linked with the site, not the anime twitter, and I found this.

The picture is part of an interview session held by Animate TV with the core cast of Battle Tendency back on the 9th. Even though that’s a picture of seven people, there were ten in the interview: Tomokazu Sugita (Joseph), Takuya Sato (Caeser), Atsuko Tanaka (Lisa Lisa), Atsushi Imaruoka (Stroheim), Akio Ootsuka (Wham), Keiji Fujiwara (ACDC), Kazuhiko Inoue (Cars), Ayako Kawasumi (Erina), and Toru Okawa (The Narrator).

A lot of things were said. There’s only five questions, but with ten people, that comes out to a sizeable interview. I worked through it as best I could, and so I present you with a quick look into the interview and the final thoughts on JoJo’s from the Part 2 cast. As I’m no translator by any stretch, these will be summarized paragraphs of what was said rather than a full on translation.

“How do you feel having finished the last episode?”

Sugita was worried the whole time about “dropping the baton” passed to him from Part 1, but thinking back on it, he realized that there is no baton because Part 2 is so different from Part 1.

Sato is a JoJo’s reader, so he knew what the ending was. Still, there’s a sense of relief because Joseph wins in the end. It’s a sad feeling, though, because JoJo’s is very intense, but also very short.

Tanaka breifly just said that she was sad coming to the end.

Imaruoka felt a strong pride being the voice actor for Stroheim, a man who died honorably in battle.

Ootsuka and Fujiwara were both unhappy they weren’t able to see it to the end because Wham and ACDC die partway into the show.

Inoue was between Sugita and Tanaka: Worried about how the show would go, but sad now to be at the end.

Ueda is the wordiest of the bunch for all the questions. He is sad that it’s over because this was a full half year project for him. There was a lot of pressure, but a rewarding feeling for making it to the end. He gave it his all in the last scene and was left feeling very thankful.

Kawasumi was proud to have been a part of the cast and crew than managed to hold up the original spirit of JoJo’s so well.

Okawa is more towards the relieved side feeling like how you do after a really tough run.

“Having worked on the whole show, what do you look back on as your favorite scene?”

Sugita really liked the part of the OP where Joseph is strutting up and the title kanji burst in. He also really liked the Part 2 PV.

Sato picked the scene where Caeser and Joseph make the icicle rope when Joseph dives in after Cars into the gorge. That scene really portrayed Joseph and Caeser’s relationship with their confidence as a duo but also pride as rivals.

Tanaka was so moved by Caeser’s death scene that rehearsing it at home brought her to tears.

Imaruoka just went with the whole of “Caeser’s Lonely Youth” because the imagry, sound, and acting were all just perfect. He did, however, say that the Stroheim commercial was a close second.

Ootsuka and Fujiwara both went with the fight between Caeser and Wham. There’s a passion and sadness welling up through the scene between these two people fighting desperately for what they believe in even though there’s so much hostility between them.

Inoue felt a little guilty because he picked the scene where he pulled a “win-win” with Cars. I think that’s probably referring to when he traps Joseph in the balancing trap with Lisa Lisa.

Ueda had  a handful. There was episode 3 which convinced him that there is really something powerful about the show. Epsiode 6, the whole cast and crew did a great job conveying the feeling of the story. He has ones in Part 2, like the scene where Joseph and Speedwagon are talking over the radio and both desperately trying to fight inevitability. The last cry he does was completely real.

Kawasumi chose the whole end. It was sad to say “goodbye” while feeling that JoJo’s has so much more to offer.

Okawa wasn’t sure because there’s tons of good scenes, but he also really felt the power of JoJo’s in Episode 3.

“What’s your impression of your character, and when was it hard to play that character?”

Joseph was always the kind of hero Sugita empathized with because he would show what looked like weakness only for it to really be strategy. It was a little tough when Joseph had to be the one surprised.

Sato had trouble with approaching the end of his time as Caeser. “How do you give all you feelings to a close friend so far away?” It brought him a lot of anxiety, but once they started, he realized that the anxiety was meaningless. He also brought up that it can be tough to be the co-star character, but he was happy to express Caeser’s feelings so honestly.

Tanaka initially had trouble with Lisa Lisa because she’s 20 and also 50, so she wasn’t sure how to properly balance her voice. A sound director came up and told her that Lisa Lisa is a woman with a lot experiences, so Tanaka just needed to play it naturally. After that, she could concentrate solely on her acting and not the way her voice sounded.

Imaruoka was nervous because Stroheim has that unique way of talking with “!!” words and “…” words.

Ootsuka was, surprisingly, nervous because he heard about Wham having moves like “Holy Sandstorm” and “Final Mode,” and he was worried he couldn’t do the moves and the expectation of the moves justice.

Fujiwara was always giving 100%! So he had a sore stomach while acting. ACDC is kinda cute, though.

Inoue was confused at first how to go about Cars because he goes through so many transformations so quickly, both in literal form and personality, but it was fun to play him. He also really liked the written sound effects.

Ueda was very aware that Speedwagon is kind of a busybody and always thinking, “I want to do something!” But after he meets Johnathan and starts experiencing all these horrors unlike anything else in the world he changes and thinks, “I can’t do anything.” He’s a nice guy all the same, but speaks with a lot of long words, so he had to be careful not to be redundant. Also, not to speak in a way that would break the tension during strong scenes.

Fujiwara felt that Erina gives this impression that she’s an ideal woman and ahad this “princess” feeling to her. The hard part was moving on to playing Part 2 Erina.

Okawa came in with the weird impression that JoJo’s was a very calm story because there’s narration, so he had to fight as hard as he could against that feeling.

“I imagine recording scenes being very exciting, so tell me about the recordings. I was impressed to the point I figured it must not be like a typical recording.”

Sugita talked about how it was tough, but you get good stories. One time during a tough recording, he was able to get through because Ueda got him two containers of throat drops. Once they were almost all gone, he then had to move onto a big fight scene.

Sato was surprised that even people coming in for unnamed character roles were bringing the big fighting spirit. That sense of unity and the aura that came off actors like those playing the Pillar Men really excited him.

Tanaka talked about how there’s so much energy in saying something as simple as “IT’S!” because the show is so faithful to the original work. Inoue would apparently have a lot of leftover momentum even when doing rerecordings.

Imaruoka was worried because so many actors would leave in the middle because of sore throats. The staff giving out throat drops is what allowed his throat to survive.

Ootsuka talked about how there was lots of impassioned yelling because so many people were into the original.

Fujiwara remarked on how the original cast was just on fire all the way.

Inoue said there was a test recording that had to be scrapped because there was so much intensity. He said he was trying really hard.

Ueda was funny because of his self awareness. The clashing of acting with the preserved original dialogue made him feel like he was doing period piece kabuki. He had to pick up from the intensity of others like Sugita and Ootsuka, and said the staff must have had fun watching them work.

Kawasumi said that JoJo’s is pretty unique because they held so strongly to the original.

Okawa knew he always had to bring his A game because he was watching guys like Ootsuka sweat.

“Do you have a message to the fans?”

Sugita apparently keeps getting asked, “What about Part 3?” He just hopes that they get to do it.

Sato said that the show has so much support from the long history of JoJo fans. Getting to play Caeser is a feather in his cap both as an actor and fan of the manga. The passion rising will always be in his heart. He thanks the fans and asks that we’re sure to see the show.

Tanaka’s been getting lots of letters of encouragement since playing Lisa Lisa. She had fun, and wants to thank the fans.

Imaruoka simply said, “JOJO’S BIZZARE ADVENTURE IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD!” I’d like to think he paused for a second, holding up a finger to hold the question, then burst out of his chair screaming.

Ootsuka said that while the anime is over for now, make sure and continue to support it for Part 3. And also eventually Part 4.

Fujiwara thanks the fans and has already been buying some DVDs himself.

Inoue worked hard and wants you to accept his BURNING PASSION!

Ueda is glad that everyone is so happy with the show. There was so much passion brought in because JoJo’s now has a quarter century history. He thanks the fans and asks that we share this show, their feelings, with everyone.

Kawasumi leaves the legacy of JoJo’s to those that come after them. She hopes there’s a day when we can see a new JoJo which, if we’re good and supportive, we may just see it.

Okawa could feel the heated power of the original work and the cast and crew. He asked that we continue to support the show so that it may continue.

Whew. It’s quite the interview. I’m glad to see everyone coming away with such positive feelings about the show. Don’t let their feelings go to waste. As long as they’ve shown their passion, let’s show ours and support JoJo with all our hearts!

No, That’s Johnathan’s Cheek, Not Dio’s Thigh! JoJo Puzzles with Nice Art

$

These are mini, 150 piece jigsaw puzzles. I bring them up unlike most products I bring up not because they’re weird like the frog or Johnathan Joecat but because the character art isn’t art I remember for a lot of previous JoJo anime products and it’s really good looking. Before I read the description, I thought they were posters. These are the sorts of drawing I would have expected on that trading card game from a few months ago. I like the amount of arms and crackers they put on Joseph, I like Dio’s floating knife because he’s a vampire and they can make knives float, and I really like how bored Cars looks in comparison to everyone else. Johnathan’s raging to go for a fight, Joseph’s being totally sweet, Dio’s going vampire giddy, and Cars looks like he’s doing this for the paycheck. It’s also interesting that the heroes get a red JoJo logo and the villains get a green one because Araki loves green.

I’m not sure if anyone’s up for buying puzzles, but if you’re interested in the artwork, they’re going for ¥630 ($6.33) each. The Johnathan one is here, the Dio one is here, the Joseph one is here, and the Cars one is here. You could always buy a jigsaw frame and hang the picture up like a poster. Then you could go to sleep every night under the watchful, protective eyes of newborn vampire Dio.

“You Thought the One Who Broke Down Wall Maria was the Colossal Titan…”

This is, according to the video, the full version of the Attack on Titan opening, “Guren no Yamiya” by Linked Horizon. Those of you coming in fresh may have seen the OP and gotten totally pumped for some sweet, giant busting action based on the powerful opening sequence. I know I did. Then the show revealed its true colors and let us know we weren’t getting any sweet, rocket/grappling hook belt vs. titan fights unless it got to smack us around and scare us straight with monster designs first.

http://i.imgur.com/Jbchzhc.jpg

Oh, that face is never going away

But that song is a really good pump up song. So let’s say you did want it for that without having to watch a mother on her way to a digestive system.

Now this is a crossover I can get behind. Well, JoJo’s is a lot more standard in it’s shonen tone, but I could get into a scene of Jotaro getting picked up by a 15m class, then, with an annoyed attitude, having Star Platinum uppercutting it through the palate causing the head to explode. That wouldn’t really fit with the tone of Attack on Titan in the slightest. The song meshes pretty well into the Phantom Blood opening sequence, though.

I wonder if there are any other JoJo + “Show X” mash-ups.

Huh. Well then.

(Thanks Titan thread for posting this and thanks to another great YouTube commenter for the title idea)

JoJo’s Blu-rays Full Release Schedule

$

0

That is the cover of the Vol. 3 DVD. I don’t think I’d posted that. The purple and cyan looks nice. I’d never posted that here, and I didn’t want to deprive you guys of Dio when there’s plenty to go around.

The official anime site has released a schedule of all the future blu-ray releases. It’s the same place that has all the pictures of the boxes and goodies that come with them, but only the ones that have been released have pictures. The rest are still just the “NOW PRINTING” block. It also tells us what episodes are going to be in each one, so here’s the schedule for all the blu-rays that are yet to have been released

Vol. 4 (Episodes 10 – 12): April 26th
Vol. 5 (Episodes 13 – 15):  May 31st
Vol. 6 (Episodes 16 – 18):  June 28th
Vol. 7 (Episodes 19 – 21): July 26th
Vol. 8 (Episodes 22 – 24): August 30th
Vol. 9 (Episodes 25 – 26): September 27th

Basically, every new blu-ray/DVD will be released on the last Friday of every month until the last one in September. That also means that August gets to be the month JoJo’s comes to your house and breaks your bank account in half. Nicely enough, though, because Vol. 9 will only have two episodes, it will come at a ¥1,050 ($10.55) discount. It’s nice to see the discs come down in price since there will be less on it even if it is still really expensive. Maybe consider it a grace for your continued support of the show.

No JoJo, No Life. Volume 4 Blu-rays with Leicht Verwendbar Launch Today!

$

Just to remind everyone, the Vol. 4 Blu-rays enclosed with Leicht Verwendbar launches in a few hours. Tower Records in Shibuya and the anime twitter have already gotten into the mood with that big ass poster set around their entry gate. It’s not really the same as the Santana statue from last time, but this is a big deal event for them to be using that space for the posters.

Anyway, for those of us not really in a position to attend the launch, the Blu-ray and the DVD do come packaged in with the new OST. That means that if you’d like to own it directly, you can go ahead and order it from Amazon JP, who have the cover and disc art that you can see unlike the anime website. If not, the YouTube playlist should be up pretty soon. I’m not sure how fast after [Musik] came out that the YouTube playlist did, but it shouldn’t be too long.

The JoJo’s Blu-ray Vol. 4 Extraaaaaaavaganza!

Everyone’s up in the spirit of JoJo’s now that the Vol. 4 blu-rays are out.

And look at that beautiful art. You should be excited.

Yes, this box set it a bigger deal than I originally thought. On top of that it comes with Leicht Verwendbar, it also comes with a ticket enclosed for the big JoJo’s event on July 23rd. That event will be attended by Okitsu, Ueda, Kawasumi, Sugita, Sato, and Tominaga. For those of you who will be in Japan in that area, you can read more about where it’s going to be held here.

Also, it was a launch event. There were lots of people there, and Takuya Sato wrote about it on his blog. He got to meet Araki and take this cool picture with his fictional grandfather, Yoku Shioya.

He talked about having fun and how the role of Caeser has been a high point of his career.

So it’s been a pretty fun showing. The JoJo spirit is getting whipped up strong with this release. I don’t imagine we’ll see this for the next few releases. Maybe for the last one. Hopefully for All Star Battle. Definitely for that event in July. I hope that spirit never falters.

JoJo Vol. 5 Blu-ray Box, Disc, and Mousepad Art

http://i.imgur.com/fmzkzmHl.jpgThe art isn’t out by the anime twitter or the official site, but like usual, someone, this time in the JoJo anime thread, managed to sneak a picture of the box set out. This will be the box set with episodes 13 through 15 on it. Like all the box sets, it comes with a bonus item rolled in. It was Leicht Verwendbar for Vol. 4, but we’re out of new soundtracks for the moment, so this time it’s that little Pillar Men Relief mousepad. A cute bonus, and maybe it can strike a conversation during office work or look judgmentally at you while you look up unscrupulous things on the internet. Wham would not approve of actions like that.

This set is due out May 31st.

There she is. I was starting to wonder, but then I remembered that no one person has been uploading the playlists for the OSTs and I just had to go look for it. This is the full playlist of Leicht Verwendbar. Everyone who’s found this place looking for “Il mare eterno nella mia anima ~Lunetta~” can finally listen to it. It’s quite nice, but me, I gotta listen to “Awake” for the next nine forever. All further posts will be written while doing ridiculous poses. Not that I didn’t do that anyway, just more so now.

“My Special JoJo Shoes Make the Joestar Ultimate Secret Technique Twice as Effective!”

Converse in conjunction with Bandai is releasing a Phantom Blood themed shoe. It’s done in the Chuck Taylor All Star Hi style with the official mark. The shoes are patterned on the outside with “JO,” stone masks, hearts, and stars. The tongue has a leather patch embossed with “Phantom Blood.” The inside pattern is based on the diamond checker used for “Next Epsiode” title cards. And it all comes in this stylish box also using that diamond checker pattern but with tan and purple for that extra JoJo flair.

The shoes are expected to launch sometime in early December, but preorders will start on May 20th and last until June 20th. It may seem silly to preorder a shoe, especially because you may have to do it through an international phone number you can find on the product page linked in the previous paragraph, but this is going to be a limited production run. There are currently no plans for reproduction, so these are collectors item shoes.

Also, this stylish stone mask chain with red, light-up eyes comes as a preorder bonus

You can find the information phone number and a sizing metric on the official product page. The designs here are a sample, so there may be some changes in the future.

This is a picture of Naokatsu Tsuda. He was one of the series directors alongside Kenichi Suzuki working for davidproduction. The JoJo Anime twitter posted about him being interviewed, and so we’ve got a retrospective on the series by him presented by AnimeAnime.

Edit! And now you don’t have to worry about me trying to create a translation because there’s been an official one by SGCafe. It also has the whole of the interview that I didn’t see when I looked it up myself. It now includes the parts about favorite characters and picking the ending theme. Enjoy!

The Perfect Sub Gift to a Basket of Grapes

$

JoJo’s product update. First off, a whole mess of Phantom Blood goods, mostly Johnathan focused. You’ve seen Johnathan Joecat before, and he also comes in a mini-form to make a key chain. For new things, we have:

A Stone Mask throw pillow. If you’re ever at one of those boring parties where people never shut up about things you could never care about, just roll over and say, “Fuck it, vampire time,” and then run away! Or just sleep on it. Pillows work that way.

Second is the official Johnathan handkerchief. If you ever have trouble talking to someone cute, give them this with a basket of grapes. If they get it, you know right off the bat you can marry them immediately forever because that’s not a common trait to share.

You can check out the product page for all four of those on the official Araki JoJo site. The Johnathan Joecats have already launched and are available on the Tobineko subsite. The handkerchief and pillow are launching later this month.

Those, however cool I might find the handkerchief, are trinkets. This next thing is the big news.

“Hirohiko Araki’s Favorites! The Laws of Film”
Suspense is the Key to Fun

A Hirohiko Araki special book about how he’s been influenced by movies, particularly Hollywood movies. It has seven chapters, and there is a chapter listing. I have no idea what some of them are supposed to be about. I’ll do my best in listing them here.

Chapter 1: “Best of the Best ‘Heat’ and ’96 Hours/Time’”
Chapter 2: “‘What makes a man cry’ is a True Condition for a Masterpiece”
Chapter 3: “Suspense is the Technique of Masters”
Chapter 4: “Love Affairs and Erotic Suspense”
Chapter 5: “Eastwood is a Genre”
Chapter 6: “I’m Not Watching this Movie Lightly!”
Chapter 7: “Urban Legends are Necessary to a Masterpiece”

It’s really only Chapters 1 and 7 that I’m not clear on what they should be because a lot of stuff, like “Eastwood” and “Genre” are written in katakana. I mostly don’t know what “96 Hours” is and was caught off guard by “Urban Legends.”

It’s a cool thing is what I’m trying to say. Learning about what influences Araki other than Italian fashion is always interesting because his work is so insane. The book is coming out this Friday for ¥777, and you can order from Shueisha’s book site once it launches.

One of the NicoTube channels has put out two collections of all the JoJo Disc commercials. One for Part 1 and one for Part 2. They aren’t subtitled, but you can pick up on the context of Santana being confused and Stroheim being as loud as possible. I particularly like Lisa Lisa saying you can’t become stronger without buying JoJo Blu-rays. If you’re going to have fun with a series, you might as well go full on with the commercials too.

JoJo’s Converse Shoes Now Available for Preorder through Tower Records

I take it you remember the special Chuck Taylor style JoJo’s ALL STAR Converse shoes. I posted a bit ago about it, but I wasn’t able to give you a way to actually preorder them other than a listed phone number at the bottom of the Araki-JoJo post, meaning that you’d probably not get a chance to see them at all and would almost definitely miss out on the light up Stone Mask key chain that was going to be a preorder bonus.

Now you don’t have to worry about it as much because Tower Records is now selling the shoes themselves online. It has all the pictures from before and an individual page for each size, 22.0 cm through 29.0 cm. They’re all going for the same price of ¥10,290 ($102.84.) Remember that these are going to be a limited run, so this preorder period, running until June 20th, is likely your only chance to get them and the key chain. For you collector types, I would look into figuring out how to order from Tower.jp.

JoJo Blu-ray Vol. 6 Art and the JoJo Blu-ray Ultimate Bonus

Once again, it’s about time for a new volume of the JoJo Blu-rays to come out. This new set comes in a lovely red with a lovely ACDC and Lisa Lisa duet on the front. This disc covers episodes 16 through 18, from Joseph and Caeser’s training at Lisa Lisa’s castle to Cars’s encounter with Stroheim. The unique bonus that comes with it is the original design t-shirt you see there.

Second, do you remember the Johnathan and Dio art card that was displayed with every volume of the blu-rays? That is the concept art for a figure that will be used as the bonus for buying the whole set of Blu-rays.

The image comes from the JoJo Anime Twitter hot off the heals of their recent JoJo raDIO event. I hadn’t thought about how they’d have to account for scaling since the concept art uses manga proportions, but the figure looks pretty nice. It’s a Medicos figure, so it will likely be a high quality item, though there’s no information for it that I can find on their website. How it will be distributed, I’m not sure. Maybe maybe you have to get all of the blu-ray box tops and send them into davidproduction.

Vol. 6 launches on Friday, and our next launch is the 26th of next month.

The Ultimate OP! JoJo’s the Animation OPs Nominated for CEDEC Award

$

How long has it been since you’ve watched the JoJo’s OPs? Not listened to the music, that I assume is on infinite loop around you at all times, but watched the sequences themselves? You might want to consider watching again because the sequences and Kamikaze Video are up for a CEDEC, the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference, award. The videos were considered because of their skill in blending 2D and 3D imagery as well as capturing the unique “JoJo’s World” look.

The award is specifically for the “Visual Arts” category, and it’s against 4 other entrants: NHK’s Tokyo Station Vision, Square-Enix’s Agni’s Philosophy Real Time Tech Demo, Giant Sparrow’s The Unfinished Swan, and Konami’s new FOX Engine. “Visual Arts” is a wide category, apparently. The tweet about this by Kamikaze mentions something about a voting poll, but I can’t find anything on the CEDEC page for the nomination list. Just in case, keep the site in mind in case they need some support.

JJBATAS Episode 2 Now Up Now and Dio Torpedo Shirts Eventually

I hadn’t noticed in the first episode, but Antfish is actually using the updated Blu-ray cuts for these episodes in at least a few places. That’s good, I suppose, since it’s higher quality and all, but I think I’m going to miss crazy eyes Johnathan.

This is also the first episode with Speedwagon, meaning that this is going to be the first major dividing point where people are going to jump ship or not. I would say the first one was going to be with Dio, but who really doubted the handling of abridged Dio. “Dio Torpedo” will probably tip a few more viewers in the show’s favor.

Edit: And it’s already gone. That video will give you the “Removed by the user” error message. When it goes up again, I’ll re-embed it or link you if it doesn’t get uploaded somewhere I can embed from.

Edit 2: And it’s back. Let’s hope it stays.

With all the commotion over ASB, I wasn’t even thinking about these. I completely didn’t even talk about the last one that came with the Santana USB drive, though I think I’d mentioned the drive itself before. Anyway, the final volume of the JoJo’s blu-rays. It comes with a picture of Joseph and Cars, probably Ultimate Cars. The DVD equivalent only has Cars, meaning that the DVD’s managed to never repeat which character they used for the cover. Vol. 9 contains the final two episodes and comes with two bonuses. One is the final cereal box top you need to get the special Johnathan and Dio statue, and the other is the art book of key animation drawing from Battle Tendency. As before, the disc launches on the last Friday of this month, the 27th, and is actually cheaper than all the previous sets by ¥1,050, so look forward to completing your collection.

But that’s not the end of the JoJo’s fever. After the launch of this blu-ray, it will be October. A lot of new fun Fall shows are starting up that month, but rebroadcasting happens too. JoJo’s: The Animation will be re-airing on BS11, an independent and satellite based TV network, at 7PM on October 5th. It’s likely they’ll be using the original airing cuts since they’ll need to use the censored versions for prime time, and going back and applying the censoring to the blu-ray cuts would be awkward. If they do use the blu-ray cuts, though, that would be cool.

I actually already knew about this, the Anime Twitter and BS11′s Twitter both posted about it back on the 7th, but I figured I’d let it go since most everyone who reads here isn’t in a position to watch Japanese TV. I bring it up now because I’m seeing people touting it as the preview show before the Stardust Crusaders anime.  Are they right? I don’t know. Shows getting rebroadcasted isn’t that weird, and it doesn’t always lead to new things. I always hear, “There’s no way they won’t make it because Part 3,” whenever it gets brought up, but I still haven’t seen any confirmation of it from davidproduction, Warner Bros., Shueisha, LUCKYLAND, or Araki. The only thing we have is the ending with Jotaro and those two teaser pictures (1, 2) from back on April 1st. The guy who posted those did say they weren’t edits. I think we can take away from that that the JoJo’s Production Committee within davidproductions probably wants to make a Part 3 anime, but I still haven’t heard anyone say, “Yes, we are definitely going to do it.” I’ll I can offer you is to put your hands together and hope the rumors are right.

I don’t know how long this will stick, so drink it up now while you’ve got the chance. And you need to. Antfish is really good at pouring malice into his Dio voice. It’s going to be fun seeing where that goes when Dio is pulling MUDAMUDA on the castle balcony. At this rate, I could see it being one or two more before getting to Part 2. I can’t wait to see what Abridged Straights is like.

Oh, and just to let you know, the second episode is back up. It probably has been for a bit, but if you haven’t noticed like I didn’t, it’s ready to go.
